Dear Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to announce to you that Allegheny General Hospital has been recognized in a newly released national report as one of the country's top 100 performance improvement leaders in health care.
Formerly known as the Solucient Top 100, the Thomson Healthcare Award examined the performance of more than 2,800 U.S. hospitals in a variety of clinical, financial and operational areas, identifying the 100 hospitals that improved the most from 2001 to 2005. AGH is one of just 15 major teaching hospitals listed in the Top 100 and the only Pennsylvania hospital to make the exclusive group. The award was announced in the August 6th edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
This lofty distinction for Allegheny is yet further testimony to the remarkable renaissance we have witnessed at the hospital. Moreover, it again reflects the talent - and the dedication - of our nurses, physicians, support personnel and volunteers. It is your performance that has earned AGH this wonderful accolade.
As always, I remain deeply grateful to all of you for your efforts and commitment. And while this gratitude is certainly not limited to those occasions on which AGH is honored, it is most gratifying to see your work recognized so significantly and on a national basis.
The following media release details the Top 100 award for you. We will also be preparing a communications campaign to ensure that audiences both inside and outside of AGH are aware of this noteworthy achievement.
